: PICKWICK LAKE/J. P. COLEMAN: Pickwick Lake elevation: 412 ft; water temps are in the low to mid 50s. The crappie reports over the last week have been very good. Anglers are reporting good success launching out of Goat Island, JP Coleman Park, and Mills Creek. Most crappie are still coming off deep brush or mats; best water depths have been 12 to 20 feet. Hair jigs (red/chartreuse) are producing bettor than minnows right now. The bass bite continues to be fair to good. The dormant hydrilla towards Pickwick Dam is holding good numbers of bass right now. Spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and grubs are all good bait choices. Other reports are coming from the middle of the hollows and also in Bear Creek. Jerkbaits are good choices in the hollows; target gravel bars in 4 to 10 ft of water for best results. The reports in Bear Creek are coming from steep bluffs that have any wood. Shallow crankbaits and jig-n-pig combos are best bait choices. Reported by: |
